ECZ IS DEDICATED TO A PEACEFUL LUMEZI BY-ELECTION THROUGH WORKING WITH STAKEHOLDERS

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has shared plans for various activities and meetings to promote peace and transparency before the upcoming Lumezi Parliamentary by-election.

ECZ Commissioner Major General Vincent Mukanda mentioned that the Commission will hold special conferences with youth, women, and traditional leaders to help them understand their roles in the election process. He pointed out that these meetings are important for encouraging everyone to participate and for preventing conflicts during the election time.

Besides the stakeholder meetings, the ECZ is also providing training sessions and boosting voter education to prepare and inform voters better.

General Mukanda made these comments at the end of the Conflict Management Committee training, where he encouraged committee members to focus on being transparent and committed to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election in Lumezi Constituency.

At the same time, Conflict Management Committee Chairperson Peter Moyo praised the ECZ for the training initiative, saying it has helped the committee manage election disputes more effectively. Mr. Moyo promised that the committee would work professionally and treat all stakeholders fairly.
