The newly rebuilt Chifubu Bridge in Ndola District was officially opened this afternoon, after it fell down because of the heavy rains in Chifubu Constituency.

During the opening ceremony, Copperbelt Province Minister Hon. Elisha Matambo praised the quick action taken by everyone involved, mentioning that the project was finished in just 14 days as planned. The rebuilding was paid for by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) 5% Disaster Component, costing K956,000.

Hon. Matambo pointed out President Hakainde Hichilema’s ongoing focus on carrying out public projects with the right budget, good quality, and on time. He thanked the men and women in uniform for sticking to these values during the Chifubu Bridge project.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to the Road Development Agency (RDA), Ndola City Council, and other important partners for working together, and he thanked the people of Chifubu and nearby areas for their patience while the construction was happening.

Additionally, Hon. Matambo confirmed the government’s promise to enhance road infrastructure in the district. He shared that the road connecting Chifubu to the Central Business District will be improved as part of the 32-kilometre road plan for Ndola District. Other roads in the district are also set to be fixed.
