A pastor in Lusaka has fled after a 25-year-old man died during a healing session in Kanyama West

The tragedy unfolded when the man, who had been struggling with leg swelling, died while receiving treatment from the local pastor.

The pastor quickly escaped through a window right after the incident.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga reported that they received a call about the sudden death around 5:10 PM today.

Elias Mwanza, 48, reported that his son, Oscar Mwanza, was the deceased.

Elias explained that Oscar had experienced leg pain for about two weeks.

In search of a cure, the family invited Pastor Trust Moyo, who is believed to be between 25 and 35 years old and is affiliated with Zioni Church in Kanyama.

During the prayer session at their home, the pastor allegedly told the family to give Oscar a mixture of eggs and Coca-Cola.

He then heated a stone and used it to apply pressure to Oscar’s legs. Shortly after, Oscar screamed, collapsed, and became unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene.

The police are currently searching for the pastor, who remains at large.

Hamoonga stated, “After the incident, the pastor fled through a window, and we have opened an inquiry file to investigate further.”

Oscar’s body is now at UTH mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The police are urging anyone with information that could help locate the pastor to come forward.
