President Hakainde Hichilema has given a serious warning to public service workers about not misusing their positions. He made it clear that any bad behavior will lead to strict consequences, no matter who you are or who you know.

During the Africa Public Service Day event in Lusaka, he spoke through Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa. President Hichilema highlighted that the battle against corruption in the public sector will be fair and unyielding.

He urged everyone involved to come together to fight against corruption, saying that the success of government policies depends on a public service built on honesty, openness, and responsibility.

President Hichilema also confirmed that his government is dedicated to making changes in public service to create a professional and effective civil service. He mentioned the free education policy as one of the programs aimed at ensuring fairness in governance and reducing gaps in service delivery.

At the same time, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa encouraged public service workers to perform their jobs with care and love for their country.

Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) President Blake Mulala supported the idea of improving the work environment for civil servants, asking for rewards to lift their spirits. He also praised the government’s pension reforms, calling them an important move for the well-being of retirees.

The Africa Public Service Day celebrations were a chance to renew the call for maintaining ethics and excellence in the public servants.
