Armed robbers pretending to be police officers have taken 6.2 tonnes of aquamarine minerals from a Chinese company located in Choma District, Southern Province.

The stolen minerals are valued at over 315,000 kwacha and were taken at gunpoint from Mingjiju Import and Export on June 30, 2025, between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM in the Humba area.

AUXENSIO DAKA, the Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, has confirmed what happened, saying the robbers also stole 8,500 kwacha in cash from the manager.

Mr. DAKA mentioned that on the night of the robbery, the criminals, some of whom were wearing police uniforms, showed up at the company in a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Hino truck, breaking in.

They demanded money, which the manager gave them, and then forced the workers to load the aquamarine minerals onto their truck.

Investigations into this incident have started.
