The first part of 2025 has brought exciting news for farmers in Livingstone District, as many have reported amazing maize crops, according to Rwinnick Mapanza, the Chairperson of the Livingstone District Cooperative Union.
In a recent chat with ZNBC News, Mr. Mapanza mentioned that plans are already underway for farmers to send their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).
However, he pointed out that the FRA needs to quickly provide packaging materials, especially FRA-branded bags, to help make the delivery of the harvested maize go smoothly and efficiently.
Moreover, Mr. Mapanza noted the big improvement in water supply for livestock in Livingstone, which is a nice change from last year’s problems with water shortages.
He also praised the Ministry of Agriculture for its proactive steps as the next farming season gets closer, emphasizing how important it is to distribute inputs early to ensure another successful harvest.
