President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed his warm welcome to the newly appointed Ambassadors and High Commissioners from India, Belarus, Bangladesh, and Canada, highlighting the necessity of enhancing diplomatic and economic relationships.
During the presentation of letters of credence at State House in Lusaka on Wednesday, President Hichilema stressed the importance of increased collaboration to promote peace, security, and stability both in Zambia and around the world.
He pointed out the critical role of establishing robust connections among governments, businesses, and citizens to achieve common development objectives.
“My administration is dedicated to promoting joint ventures, investment, and trade with the nations represented by the newly accredited diplomats,” he remarked.
The President also encouraged diplomats stationed outside Zambia to contemplate relocating, suggesting that a closer presence would improve communication and minimize unnecessary travel.
He specifically recognized the opportunities for strengthening partnerships with Bangladesh and Belarus, recalling previous successful interactions.
“There is a necessity for all new Ambassadors and High Commissioners to collaborate closely with Zambian government ministers and concentrate on meaningful cooperation through targeted projects and programs,” he noted.
The President urged the diplomats to focus on economic and social development, trade, and investment as essential areas for collaboration.
He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between their respective countries and various sectors in Zambia to drive advancement.
“I would also like to commend each of your nations for your economic successes and the potential to make a positive impact on social development,” he concluded.
