The Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, AUXENSIO DAKA, confirmed what happened and named the suspect as NGULA NYAMBE.
Mr. DAKA said that this incident took place on July 1, 2025, around 4:00 AM, in Namalimba village, which is in Chief NALUBAMBA’s area.
He also mentioned that the woman had hidden her pregnancy from her family.
On that day, after feeling labor pains, she asked her cousin to go with her to the toilet.
It is thought that she gave birth and then threw the baby into the pit latrine.
Mr. DAKA added that the cousin told the suspect’s mother, who then contacted the local headman for help.
The baby was finally taken out of the pit latrine, rushed to Namwala Central Hospital, and the police were notified about the incident.
