Arsenal followed the correct procedures regarding Partey and Arteta.

According to the BBC, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta stated he is “100%” confident that the club adhered to the proper protocols while handling the situation involving former midfielder Thomas Partey, who was under police investigation for several counts of rape during his time with the team.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian midfielder departed Arsenal when his contract ended on June 30, and just four days later, he faced charges of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The alleged incidents reportedly occurred in 2021 and 2022, as noted by the Metropolitan Police in a statement released on July 4.

The charges involve three different women, with two counts of rape associated with one woman, three counts of rape related to another woman, and one count of sexual assault concerning a third woman.

Partey has denied the allegations and his lawyer mentioned that he “welcomes the chance to finally clear his name.”

The investigation by detectives began in February 2022 after the police received an initial report of rape.

Currently, Arsenal is in Singapore for their pre-season tour, where they will face AC Milan and Newcastle before heading to Hong Kong to play against Tottenham.

Before the match against Milan on Wednesday, Arteta was questioned in a press conference about the situation involving Partey.

“The club was very clear in its statement,” Arteta remarked. “There are many legal issues that are quite complex, so I cannot comment on any of that.”

He was then asked, “Many fans have concerns about how the club managed this situation. Do you feel assured and at ease that the club followed all the appropriate procedures?”

Arteta replied, “100%, yes.”

Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

He transferred to Arsenal for £45 million from Atletico Madrid in October 2020.

Last season, he made 35 appearances in the Premier League, scoring four goals as Arsenal secured a second-place finish.

He also played 12 times in the Champions League, helping the Gunners reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by the eventual champions, Paris St-Germain.
