The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has confirmed that court proceedings against Chawama Member of Parliament Tasila Lungu will resume after she concludes her mourning period following the death of her father, former President Edgar Lungu.
Speaking to Phoenix News, DEC Director General Nason Banda said all legal actions involving Ms. Lungu were temporarily suspended to respect the traditional mourning period.
Mr. Banda stated that Ms. Lungu, who was arrested and charged before being released on police bond, will face prosecution as soon as she returns to Zambia.
He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to fighting financial crimes and corruption without fear or favor, stressing that political or social status will not influence investigations or prosecutions.
