Some family members of Edgar Lungu, the Sixth President, in Petauke are feeling sad about the problems related to his burial.
In separate talks with ZNBC News at Mkwama and Simambumbu villages in Senior Chief Kalindawalo’s area, relatives mentioned that they are wishing for a quick solution to the issue so they can give their family member a proper farewell.
Bernard Lungu, a cousin of the former President, criticized the politics involved in the funeral, saying it is disrespectful to the late leader.
Mr. Lungu shared that he was one of the relatives who went to Lusaka for the funeral and stayed there for three weeks before going back home after the burial was delayed.
He also mentioned that the family will soon decide together on what to do about the situation.
Another cousin, Elizabeth Lungu, pointed out that much of what is happening with the funeral plans goes against their cultural and traditional beliefs.
At the same time, Ekelesi Nkhoma, the former President’s aunt, expressed hope that the disagreements will be settled peacefully.
