The crash happened on July 5, 2025, at around 9:30 AM in the Kasenga village area, which is about 5 kilometers west of the Mwamfushi turnoff on the Great North Road.
Dennis Moola, the Police Commissioner for Muchinga Province, confirmed this sad news.
Mr. Moola named the victims, including Moses Mutale, 30, from Fiyoshi village, who had bleeding from his nose and a cut on his forehead, and Alfred Chiti, whose age is unknown, also from Fiyoshi village, who had bleeding from his mouth and bruises on his head.
He also mentioned Cecilia Chiti, 37, from Fiyoshi village, who had bleeding from her nose and a cut on her head, and Banda Mutale, just 2 years old, from Sekala village, who suffered serious head injuries.
Mr. Moola listed other victims like Shadrick Malumbe, 2, from Sekala village, who also had serious head injuries, and Chiti Chibeka, 40, from Sekala village, who had a fractured head.
He reported that Jacob Makawa, 47, from the Mpika police camp, had a swollen forehead and bleeding from his nose.
Mr. Moola stated that the driver, Daniel Daka, who had serious head injuries, and the other seven victims were declared dead when they arrived at Chilonga Mission Hospital.
He added that the bodies of those who died have been taken to the mortuary at Chilonga Hospital for a postmortem.
Mr. Moola also identified four other passengers who were seriously hurt, including Mulenga Kitila, 35, from Newtown, who had a cut on his left hand and might have a fractured left hand.
He mentioned Christine Mulenga, 47, from Sekala village, who had a fractured left hand, and two adult males, who are currently unidentified, are in a state of unconsciousness.
A Toyota Noah vehicle, which was carrying 11 passengers and driven by Daniel Daka, was involved in the accident with a Travion Locomotive goods train.
