The Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Hon. Doreen Mwamba, has announced an immediate transition for vulnerable individuals, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and lactating mothers, from the recently concluded Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) Programme to the regular Social Cash Transfer (SCT) Programme nationwide.
During a visit to Kalundu Ward in Chilanga District, where she presided over the final disbursement of ECT funds, Hon. Mwamba reiterated the government’s pledge to support vulnerable citizens.
“Your government has listened to your concerns. I am directing that all seniors, individuals with disabilities, and lactating mothers who benefited from the drought emergency initiative be transitioned to the Ordinary Social Cash Transfer Programme across the country,” she stated.
The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding social protection initiatives, including the Food Security Pack (FSP) and the Supporting Women’s Livelihood (SWL) programmes, ensuring that no vulnerable group is overlooked.
She also expressed gratitude to partner organizations for their ongoing support in improving the lives of impoverished and marginalized communities.
