The Government has officially handed over agricultural equipment and livestock valued at over K1.3 million to Food Security Pack (FSP) beneficiaries in Isoka District.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba, said the equipment aims to promote agricultural mechanization in the area. She highlighted that this initiative aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision to enhance food security by increasing crop yields.
Accompanied by Isoka Member of Parliament, Marjorie Nakaponda, Minister Mwamba stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to successfully promote food security. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting nutritional needs through various interventions, including the procurement of agricultural equipment.
Minister Mwamba described the event as a significant milestone in advancing rural mechanization and improving livelihoods. She mentioned complementary programmes such as Social Cash Transfer, Supporting Women’s Livelihoods, and Village Banking, which together contribute to community development.
She also expressed satisfaction with the improved repayment rates under the FSP programme, which have enabled community-driven projects designed to lift vulnerable households out of intergenerational poverty.
At the same event, MP Marjorie Nakaponda praised the positive impact of the FSP programme and encouraged beneficiaries to remain focused, visionary, and to maximize household incomes while maintaining the equipment responsibly.
Isoka District Commissioner, Jairo Simbeya, also commended the Ministry for empowering local communities. He noted that access to life-changing equipment like hammer mills and maize shellers will end the long distances residents previously traveled to obtain such tools.
