GOVERNMENT ISSUES STRONG WARNING AGAINST UNFAIR PAY PRACTICES

The government has given a serious warning to employers about unfair pay practices, calling them illegal and not acceptable.

Brenda Tambatamba, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, mentioned that anyone or any organization that breaks fair pay rules will face consequences under the law.

While speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka, Ms. Tambatamba emphasized that all workers—whether they are Zambian or from other countries—should get the same pay for doing the same job. She stated that discrimination in pay is not acceptable in a fair and productive society.

“Every worker deserves fair treatment and equal pay for the same job,” the Minister said.

She also encouraged employers and businesses to reach out to the Ministry for proper advice on labor standards and rules.

Ms. Tambatamba confirmed the government’s dedication to supporting decent work and fair employment practices, which she believes are essential for improving national productivity.
