Government Revises 2025 Holiday Calendar
The government has issued Statutory Instrument Number 157 of 2025 to designate certain special days as non-working public holidays.
This follows the revocation of Statutory Instrument 1078 of 2024.
The Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, states that Statutory Instrument Number 157 of 2025 has changed the commemoration of Heroes and Unity Days to July 7 and 8, making them non-working holidays instead of June 30 and July 1, 2025.
Mr. Kangwa also listed other non-working public holidays, including January 1 (New Year), March 8 (International Women’s Day), March 12 (Youth Day), and April 18 (Good Friday).
In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr. Kangwa also announced that April 19 (Holy Saturday), April 20 (Holy Sunday), and April 21 (Holy Monday) will be non-working public holidays.
He further announced additional non-working public holidays, including April 28 (Kenneth Kaunda Day), May 1 (Labour Day), May 25 (Africa Day), and May 26 (Aftermath of Africa Day).
Mr. Kangwa has also announced that August 4 (Farmers Day), October 18 (National Day of Prayers, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation), October 24 (Independence Day), and December 25 (Christmas Day) will be non-working public holidays.
