LIBES Launches 5-Year Strategic Plan to Boost Skills for Zambia’s 2030 Vision
The Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) has officially launched its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, aimed at aligning vocational training with Zambia’s national development goals.
Speaking on behalf of Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati, Director of Vocational Education and Training, Precious Lisuli, emphasized the importance of human capital investment in transforming Zambia into a prosperous middle-income country by 2030.
Minister Mutati praised LIBES for designing a strategic plan that shifts focus from training for certification to training for employment, productivity, and self-reliance. He said this direction would enhance LIBES’ relevance in meeting labour market demands and prepare graduates for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
LIBES Acting Principal, Gershom Malekani, stated that the new Five-Year Strategic Plan is built on pillars of transformative training, innovation, quality assurance, research, sustainability, and infrastructure development. He added that successful implementation would position LIBES as a Centre of Excellence, particularly in the hospitality and water and sanitation sectors.
The LIBES 2025–2029 Strategic Plan reinforces the institution’s commitment to delivering market-driven skills and contributing to Zambia’s economic development agenda.
