MWANSABOMBWE COUNCIL SECRETARY CALLS FOR STRICT FOLLOWING OF ROAD SAFETY LAWS
Mwansabombwe Town Council Secretary, Mr. Felix Mwila Mwila, has urged all drivers in the district to carefully follow road safety rules, warning that careless driving will not be accepted.
During a live chat on Mwansabombwe FM Radio’s morning show, Mr. Mwila shared his worries about the increasing number of traffic accidents, which he believes are mainly due to carelessness and not following traffic laws. He was answering questions from the public that were brought up during the station’s Ubuteko bwa Chikaya program.
Mr. Mwila encouraged everyone to report any traffic law violations—including those involving government cars or motorcycles—to the appropriate law enforcement officers. He stressed that the local government, along with security agencies, is prepared to take strong action against those who break the law.
“Road safety is something we all share responsibility for,” Mr. Mwila said. “We all need to follow traffic rules, avoid speeding, and respect other road users. The government will not accept behavior that puts our citizens at risk.”
The Council Secretary also pointed out the local government’s dedication to enhancing road conditions and enforcing laws designed to protect lives. He asked residents to report bad behavior like overloading, drunk driving, and improper use of government vehicles, promising that all reports will be treated with confidentiality and urgency.
Besides road safety, Mr. Mwila talked about other development issues that residents brought up, such as problems with water supply and the state of the district’s roads. He announced that work on grading and graveling will start again in all 12 wards in early June 2025.
Mr. Mwila wrapped up by expressing gratitude to His Royal Highness Mwata Kazembe XIX, the Council Chairperson, the District Commissioner, civil servants, traditional leaders, clergy, non-governmental organizations, and the people of Mwansabombwe for their ongoing support to the local community.
