Paul Pogba has signed a two-year deal with AS Monaco to restart his career after facing a doping ban.
The French midfielder has officially joined the team on a free transfer, as he looks to bounce back from a tough time due to a doping suspension.
The Ligue 1 club made the announcement on Saturday, June 28, 2025, marking a fresh start for the 32-year-old player, who has been trying to get back to high-level football after dealing with legal and health issues.
In February 2024, Pogba received a four-year doping ban after testing positive for DHEA, a substance that can increase testosterone levels.
However, after a successful appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, his ban was cut down to 18 months, allowing him to return to play sooner than expected.
This change gave Pogba the chance to keep playing professionally at a new club.
In November 2024, Juventus announced that they had mutually agreed to end Pogba’s contract, which was supposed to last until June 2026.
His second time at Juventus was troubled by injuries and uneven performances after he came back from Manchester United, where he played from 2016 to 2022.
Leaving Juventus now opens the door for a new beginning at Monaco, where he hopes to find his form and fitness again.
Pogba has had a career full of impressive achievements, including winning the 2018 World Cup with France. His last game for the national team was in 2022, but knee surgery kept him from playing in the Qatar World Cup.
Even though he showed a lot of promise early on, his time at Manchester United only brought two trophies: the League Cup and the Europa League, both won in his first season after a record transfer fee.
Last season, Monaco finished third in Ligue 1, behind the champions Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille.
