PDU is hopeful about everyone having access to health by 2030.

The Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) is hopeful that the School Health Programme (SHP) will help Zambia achieve health for everyone by 2030.

President Hakainde Hichilema has given BP machines to all health rooms across the country. Western Province Minister Kapelwa Mbangweta mentioned that this program is a big change that has really helped improve the health and education of students everywhere.

While speaking at the graduation of 500 school health teachers in Mongu yesterday, Mr. Mbangweta said that with 48 school health rooms being built in four districts of Western Province, he believes that students will have access to good health education and services.

The districts benefiting from this are Nkeyema, Nalolo, Mongu, and Limulunga. Mr. Mbangweta encouraged everyone to work together to make a province where every student can get quality health and education services.

PDU head Kusobile Kamwambi said that SHP supports the Government’s free education policy. “Free education isn’t just about letting more kids into school. We also need to think about other parts of education, like health.

So, we are really excited about this program because it helps us reach our goal of health for everyone by 2030,” Ms. Kamwambi said. Brian Kayongo, the vice-president of Healthy Learners partnerships and technical assistance, praised the Government for caring about education and children’s well-being.

Dr. Kayongo said that the Government’s leadership in starting the School Health Programme has created a strong base for a future where every student can do their best in school and in life.

“By building and equipping health rooms, training teachers in community health, and creating buddy groups for support, the program makes sure students get help when they need it,” Dr. Kayongo said. He mentioned that the 500 teachers…
