Technology Minister Felix Mutati has urged for increased investment in technologies that can transform internet access into empowerment for the people of Zambia.

Mr. Mutati stated that the government is open, ready, and eager to work with innovators who prioritize people.

While speaking at the launch of the Spot app in Lusaka, Mr. Mutati emphasized the importance of a digital transformation that is inclusive, intentional, and empowering.

He made these comments in a speech delivered by Larry Mweeba, the Ministry Director of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Mr. Mutati pointed out that the Spot app is a digital platform that addresses one of the most pressing challenges of our time by offering access to youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health information.

He mentioned that the Spot app links users to a growing network of over 200 verified reproductive health service providers and mental health support lines, among other resources.

Sistah Sistah Foundation Board Chairperson Yande Kalengo stated that the app will offer improved information on various health issues that impact young women and girls.

Ms. Kalengo also noted that the app will be available to individuals with disabilities, which will further promote inclusivity.
