The Eastern Press Club is speaking out against a false claim made about journalists.
They have strongly denied a social media post from Chipata EP Legacy that wrongly says journalists only do their jobs for money.
In a statement from the Club’s Executive, they called these claims “baseless, untrue, and damaging” to the reputation of journalists in Eastern Province.
The statement said, “The Eastern Press Club is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among journalists in the province. Many of our members report stories just to serve the public interest, without expecting any payment.”
The Club pointed out that the accusations from Chipata EP Legacy do not show the real situation, where journalists often work in tough conditions while staying committed to their responsibilities.
They have also asked for responsible behavior on social media and encouraged the public to respect the work of media professionals.
The Executive concluded by saying, “The Eastern Press Club will stand up for its members against unfair attacks and will keep protecting the reputation of journalists in the area.”
