A heartbreaking road traffic accident in Nyimba District has resulted in the loss of a 30-year-old woman and her one-year-eight-month-old daughter. This unfortunate incident took place on Monday around 21:50 hours in the Njanji area along the Great East Road.
According to Robertson Mweemba, the Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, the victims lost their lives when a container detached from an overturned truck and fell onto a Toyota Auris parked by the roadside.
The victims have been identified as Janet Sakala and her daughter, Joyce Banda. Mr. Mweemba shared that the family was traveling to Senior Chief Nzamane’s area to pick up their children who were on holiday. The husband, who was present during the incident, survived the crash.
