TWO MEN SHOT IN MUFULIRA ARMED ROBBERY, ONE IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Mufulira, Zambia – July 28, 2025
Two employees of a local butchery in Mufulira are recovering from gunshot wounds following a violent armed robbery in the Ndeke area, along the Mufulira-Ndola Road. One of the victims is in critical condition.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Pathias Siandenge, confirmed the incident, stating that the aggravated robbery occurred on the night of Saturday, July 26, 2025, between 21:30 and 22:00 hours at Plot M591. The attack took place as the victims were arriving home in a Ford vehicle, registration number ADF 899.
The victims have been identified as Pranavu Prapha, aged 33, and Markmullan Lindunda, aged 36. According to police reports, the two men were ambushed at their gate by unknown armed attackers who opened fire on the vehicle. Prapha sustained a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, while Lindunda suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the shoulders, jaw, and abdomen.
Both victims were rushed to Ronald Ross Hospital. Medical personnel report that Prapha is in stable condition, while Lindunda remains in critical condition due to the severity of his injuries.
Police further confirmed that the attackers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money belonging to the butchery. Investigators recovered four empty cartridges, one live round, two more empty cartridges, and a live pistol round inside the vehicle. Broken window glass was also found at the scene.
Authorities have since opened a docket and launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made at this stage, and police are urging members of the public with information to come forward.
The Copperbelt Province has seen a recent rise in violent crime, prompting increased patrols and calls for community vigilance.
