TWO SISTERS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER BEE ATTACK IN CHIPANGALI

Two sisters from Chipangali District are getting treatment at Madzi-a-tuwa Health Centre after getting hurt badly from a long bee attack that happened on Saturday afternoon.

Helen Nyirenda, who is 35, and her younger sister, Rita Nyirenda, who is 31, were said to have been stung by a swarm of bees close to a stream in Madzi-a-tuwa while they were on their way home from visiting a relative in Thithimila.

Their mother, Ms Helen Mbewe, mentioned that the attack started around 3 PM and went on for almost three kilometers until the sisters got home.

“They were attacked near the stream and the bees followed them all the way home. They tried to take off their clothes hoping the bees would stop, but the insects kept stinging them without stopping,” Ms Mbewe shared.

She said the sisters got home completely without clothes and collapsed as soon as they entered, and that’s when the bees finally flew away.

Both women were quickly taken to the local health center where they are still getting medical help. Ms Mbewe is worried about how strange this incident is and thinks that witchcraft might have played a part in the attack.

“There’s no reason why the bees chased them for such a long way and only stopped at the door. We think this could be something unusual,” she said.
