The team in charge of the Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena traditional ceremony in Copperbelt is asking young people to take part in these ceremonies to help share cultural values, norms, and practices.
In an interview with ZNBC News in Kitwe, Stella Mayuni, the Copperbelt Regional Coordinator for the Organizing Committee, mentioned that traditional ceremonies have always played a big role in keeping cultural heritage alive and bringing together Zambia’s many tribes and cultures.
Ms. Mayuni has urged the people in Copperbelt to back events like the upcoming fundraising dinner gala, which aims to gather resources for the 2025 Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena traditional ceremony.
At the same time, Committee Member Kangwa Kamando highlighted the economic and cultural importance of traditional ceremonies, pointing out that they can draw in both local and international tourists.
He explained that this could help boost the local economy and encourage cultural exchange.
He also invited young people to join the ceremony to experience the rich culture and traditions of the Bemba people, as it offers a chance for individuals from various backgrounds to come together, learn, and appreciate each other’s cultures.
