ZAMBIA GOLD COMPANY IS PAYING UP TO K2,600 PER GRAM TO ARTISANAL MINERS
Zambia Gold Company, which is part of ZCCM-IH, has bought about seven kilograms of gold from artisanal miners at its gold-buying centers in Rufunsa and Mumbwa in the last few months.
Loisa Mbatha, the Public Relations Manager for ZCCM-IH, mentioned that the company is offering good prices that range from K2,400 to K2,600 per gram. These prices are a bit lower than the current market price of about K2,800 per gram.
While talking to ZNBC News at the CAMINEX Mining and Agricultural Exhibition happening in Kitwe, Ms. Mbatha highlighted that Zambia Gold Company gives a dependable and easy market for local artisanal miners. She explained that this effort is meant to gather and organize gold production from small-scale miners to improve formal trading.
Ms. Mbatha also pointed out that the company’s plan is to collect gold mined by artisanal miners to stop it from being smuggled out of Zambia.
