Zambia has signed with Indian company for medicine production.
Zambia has made a big deal with an Indian company called Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals to start making medicines right in Zambia.
This deal was signed by important Zambian leaders, including Dr. Siazongo Siakalenge, who is in charge of finance and economic development.
The new factory will be Akums’ first one outside of India and will help Zambia become a key place for making medicines, so they won’t have to rely so much on drugs from other countries.
A special ceremony with President Hakainde Hichilema will happen in September to kick things off. The Zambia Development Agency and the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency will help move things along.
Mr. Ashok Saroha, the president of Akums International Business, said this factory will be a big step forward for both the company and Zambia, making it easier for the country to provide its own medicines.
