The government says that Zambia is working hard to create a strong, green, and inclusive economy by teaming up with the international community.

Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba mentions that with help from Japan and other global partners, Zambia is adopting climate-smart farming to make sure there is enough food for everyone.

Mr. Sikumba points out that Zambia is not only getting ready for the future but is also shaping it.

He talked about different projects that Zambia and Japan are collaborating on, like biotechnology research backed by JICA, which aims at developing drought-resistant rice and diversifying crops.

He also mentioned that Zambia is taking a leading role in the green energy transition through its mining activities.

Mr. Sikumba explained that Zambia’s rich mineral resources—like copper, cobalt, manganese, and gold—make it an important partner in the global move towards clean technologies.

During a media briefing in Japan, Mr. Sikumba said that Zambia is focusing on adding value, improving governance and transparency, and developing sustainable supply chains for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy.

Mr. Sikumba added that Zambia has come back to Osaka, Japan, with a clear purpose, and invited Japanese people to check out the Zambian pavilion and meet with business leaders.

Mr. Sikumba, who is leading a high-level group that includes Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe, is representing President Hakainde Hichilema at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan.
