ZESCO has reported a loss of K537,636.12 because of eleven vandalism incidents that happened in five provinces within a single day.
Ben Mwanamakwa, the Senior Manager for Special Duties and Investigations at ZESCO, mentioned that these crimes hurt the economy by disrupting electricity supply and negatively affecting economic activities.
In a statement released by the company’s Corporate Affairs Department on Sunday, Mwanamakwa emphasized that every citizen needs to help fight against vandalism since ZESCO cannot handle it alone.
“ZESCO Limited experienced eleven (11) significant security incidents across five provinces in just 24 hours, leading to a total loss of K537,636.12.
Mr. Ben Mwanamakwa, the Senior Manager for Special Duties and Investigations, called these criminal acts ‘economic sabotage’ that threaten electricity supply.
